Long as I Can See the Light

Hey there, everyone. It's been a while I posted something since I was away vacationing. But I'm back with some more cool artworks that you might like.

Today's piece is a painting of Buddha. I chose Buddha not because I'm a follower of the religion or its spiritual side but because I always experience this absurd serenity while merely looking at a Buddha picture or a statuette. That's what got me to pick up my brushes and start painting of my own interpretation of him.

This was easily one of the most taxing paintings I've done in a while. There were multiple factors one has to be careful about - one of them being the mixing and the shading of acrylic paints to get an even tone throughout the painting.

I've seen a gazillions of different forms of Buddha but the face is what grabs my attention the most. It depicts the extolled tranquility, Buddha is said to have. Hence i decided on focusing on the face with the aim of creating a calm aura around it. Hopefully you see that in my painting, below.

Masks

Hey there! Hope you'll are enjoying reading my blog or NOT. In either case, here is the next post! :P

Being an amateur artist, I look up many of the great artists' work for inspiration. I am in complete awe of some of them. And mind you, I'm not talking about Picassos and Da Vinci's but amateur artists who've made progress and attained success. In my opinion, it's very important for an artist to grow not only in technique but also use this wonderful skill of artistry to paint their emotions. Art is a surreal way to voice your opinion in a crowd, without making a sound.

Few days back, I was on Instagram and found this video which caught my attention. It was a video where the artist, Glen Ronald drew a face within 15 seconds. I was wowed by this and really wanted to give it a shot.

Learning a technique might be quick, but perfection, definitely comes with time. I practiced till I thought I could make a decent - looking face and ended up with this piece which I call, "Masks".

Rubber, Stubs, etc.

Hey, everyone! I hope you've been enjoying reading my posts. Today, I'm going to share an artwork that I've been meaning to make since quite a while.

As a teenager, I was always fascinated at the idea of riding a bike. So after a lot of cribbing and crying, my dad taught me. And so started, one of the coolest phases of my life.
Now, I usually drive around but, I was a biker girl once. So this is more like a throwback painting for the times I've ridden my old yet awesome bike.
Coming back to art, it took me three days to finish this acrylic painting. I tried a lot of new things in this artwork and it worked out great for me. The cigarette stub, the hair and the jacket are a few of my favorite things of this painting. But the highlight for me, is the attitude that the artwork portrays. It is blunt, crisp and clear.

So there it is, yet another pop art piece, just to commemorate my ride. And so, with this painting, I want to give a shout out to all biker girls and ladies who love their rides. In conclusion, I would just like to share a quote I firmly believe in,
"Four wheels moves the body. Two wheels moves the soul."

Please share your thoughts in the form of comments and let me know if someone out there wants to own today's painting. Yes, it's on sale! Those of you interested, please mail me at swapni9@gmail.com

Lines and Curves

Hey, all you lovely arty people! So this is my second post in here and I hope you like what you see. *Wink*

Today, I'm going to share with you an artwork which I did for my best friend on her birthday and hence is, indeed, very special. Before I get into the painting, I would like to tell you that this painting is something that I managed to finish in quite a short time. My best buddy, you see, had a cat who was very dear to her and me, but unfortunately passed away a couple of years back. Hence, I thought, "What other way than incorporating the memories of our lovely 'Etash' into my painting?"

Done on an A4 sized cartridge paper, this painting is at its core an acrylic painting, with a hint of water soluble color pencils and a lot of coffee while I was on it, since it was late night. In my opinion, using textures and patterns are very important when it comes to the visual sense...it makes it look more detailed and this painting proves that premise. So, here's a peek into that night's work.

Hope you all like it and of course, feedback is welcomed.

Celebrating Time

*Deep breath*

So, hey everyone. This blog is something that I've been planning since quite some time. The idea behind it is to just while away my time and yours too. Jokes apart, as an amateur in this field, I'm doing this to share some kick-ass ideas, thoughts and experiences with like - minded people, interact with new crazy arty people, and of course, share my art on a global platform.

Art is something that I've been interested in since I was a kid. I would paint walls with my tiny little hands until I was whooped telling me not to do so. Why not?! Art comes from within the soul and is an awesome way of self expression, as most know.
So if you are interested in what goes inside my squeaky little brain and soul, you should go check out my work and follow my blog.

Here's a painting that I did for a special friend on a very special occasion. Since he's big into rock music, it wasn't too difficult to imagine what I wanted to paint for him. But since I love research and also whiling away my time, I started looking at what could be different ways of interpreting rock music. I came across a lot of things...A LOT! But nothing struck me as an inspiration. Then my lovely friend, Pinterest, gave me an idea of doing the most obvious thing. The rock and roll hand sign! Thats it. Got my acrylics, brushes and my canvas, sat down for the entire day finishing this piece since I was too excited to give it to him. Use of bright and vibrant colors gives this, 30''X 23'' painting, a very Pop Arty feeling, which is what I was going for, BTW.
